Final Shipment Deadline for US Before Chinese New Year & Key Shipping Insights

Dear Valued Partners,

This is an important notice from the logistics department at GlobalVertical regarding critical shipment deadlines and current challenges leading up to the Chinese New Year period.

US Shipments – Final Cutoff Date: The last order cutoff for shipments to the United States is January 25, with goods needing to arrive at the warehouse by January 23 to ensure timely processing and booking of space on vessels. Delays beyond this date will likely result in missed sailing windows.

Other Destinations: The same principle applies to shipments to other countries, though specific cutoff dates may vary depending on destination. Please reach out to us directly to confirm your country’s requirements.

Shipping Timing and Operational Challenges: Although container space has been reserved, actual sailing dates may fluctuate due to several ongoing logistics constraints:

Domestic Logistics Suspension: From January 22, domestic courier and trucking services in China will be significantly reduced or halted in preparation for the holiday. This shutdown will result in limited pick-up availability and possible disruptions, leading to situations where shipments are confirmed but cannot be physically picked up or transported—often referred to as "booked but not moved."

Container Shortage and Imbalance: There are space availability issues in terms of container supply, even if booking slots are available on vessels. The surge in demand for exports, compounded by extended inspection and quality control processes, has created a mismatch between available containers and the actual cargo ready for shipment. This means some containers might remain empty while other shipments wait for container space to be allocated.

Port Congestion and Terminal Delays: Even when goods are successfully loaded into containers, port congestion remains a critical issue. Due to prior disruptions in vessel schedules and extended demurrage and detention periods at terminals, there is a high risk of delays at the port of departure. Containers may be subject to extended wait times before they can be loaded onto the next available sailing, as terminals struggle to manage the backlog.

In conclusion, the period before Chinese New Year is one of high demand and tight shipping windows, making precise delivery timelines difficult to guarantee. We strongly advise considering post-Chinese New Year shipping or ensuring that your 2025 logistics plans are well in place to navigate this peak season efficiently.

Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership. We wish you a prosperous and successful New Year, full of smooth operations and timely deliveries.

Best regards,
Global Vertical Team
